MarsEdit 2

Part of the reason I haven’t been blogging as much lately has been my dissatisfaction with Mac OS X weblog editors. While it’s much easier to edit in-browser for a WordPress blog than it was for a MovableType blog, I still prefer using an external editor. Ecto has been futzy and I’m not in the mood to hassle with its beta ups and downs.

Now MarsEdit 2 is out and I’m giving it a try. Seems capable enough so far. What I want is Windows Live Writer for Mac OS X. I want to be able to see my post as I type exactly as it will appear on my site, without having to deal with markup code until I decide that’s what I want to see.

In the meantime, I’ll give it some time to figure out if this is worth $30.

  1. I’m also on a trial with MarsEdit, and so far, it’s working well. One bonus – the MT site I contribute to (the one that takes forever to publish) is much faster when I publish using MarsEdit (and the XMl/RPC connection.)
