Well, that was unexpected. In Tony Snow’s first appearance as White House Press Secretary he said and got emotional over the c-word. No, not cancer. He said colon! As in he had one that cancer removed and he got choked up talking about his personal and family experience with the disease.

To this day, when someone asks for my employer name and I say “Colorectal Cancer Coalition” there are people who are uncomfortable even repeating the first word, much less admitting they can’t spell it. We can’t fight something until we can talk about it. Being brave enough to stand there and emotionally admit what colon cancer means to him almost makes me overlook the person who gave him the job and say bravo, Mr. Snow! And on behalf of my father and everyone else I deal with on a daily basis, I say THANK YOU!
