Personality type

Back in 1985 I completed a MBTI personality profile for the first time. It was part of a Women’s Leadership group I got involved at Clarkson University. The result: ESTJ (Extrovert Sensing Thinking Judging). There’s an online version on this site. It’s short (not nearly as comprehensive as the real thing) and easy and it came up with the exact same result for me.

Ayup. Heavy on the extrovert and sensing, light on the thinking with some judgment on the side.

This is how the Myers-Brigg folks describe the ESTJ personality and it’s so me compared to the other descriptions that it’s a bit scary:

ESTJ
Practical, realistic, matter-of-fact. Decisive, quickly move to implement decisions. Organize projects and people to get things done, focus on getting results in the most efficient way possible. Take care of routine details. Have a clear set of logical standards, systematically follow them and want others to also. Forceful in implementing their plans.

It’s that “forceful” part that keeps getting me in trouble.
